October 1, 2008 : 1:29 PM
Do you believe in the importance of adopting insteading of buying our new furry family members? We are offering a unique and exciting volunteer opportunity in the Los Angeles area that could be right for you! This is a chance to make a difference once or on an ongoing basis. Know of a group of students or employees looking for a community service project? Please consider this!
Right now, millions of adult dogs are suffering on the “production line” in America’s puppy mills – living in tiny, wire-bottomed cages, in squalid conditions with little or no human contact - all because consumers insist on purchasing puppies instead of adopting. Meanwhile, roughly 11 thousand animals are euthanized in the country’s shelters every single day. The Best Friends ‘Puppies Aren’t Products’ national campaign and the L.A. Programs ‘A Puppy-Store-Free-L.A.’ campaign are working with you to create a world of No More Homeless Pets by fighting against puppy mills. From targeting pet stores who sell puppies from mills to educating consumers, to creating and lobbying for better legislation across the country, our campaign team is making an impact, and saving lives. Please join us in working toward a day when all of America's dogs have what they deserve: safety, good care, and happiness.
Jennifer Krause of our Best Friends Campaigns is hosting upcoming Pup Rally Orientations. Please email Jennifer at jkrause@bestfriends.org for the current Orientation schedule.
