Dumped and stray animals show need more than ever for spay/neuter focus.
Email received Monday morning:
I just thought I would share my adventures over the past two weeks and ask if anyone else is having the same!
On Thursday, May 1st, I came home to find four, 4 week old kittens in a white styrofoam cooler under my carport! The tornado sirens were going off, and I was totally shocked at finding them! That is a first for me; no one has ever left anything at my house before. I was able to get them into a foster home.
This past week, a volunteer of ours came home to find a crate sitting on her porch in front of her door; it also had four. 4 week old kittens! The same foster home as above now has these kittens.
The next day, Tina had three kittens left in a crate out at her place, also 4 weeks old! So when we did a transport on Friday, Tina brought me those three and they are now also at the same foster home as above. By now, this foster home has been renamed kitten central. And, kitten central is full and can take no more!
On Friday someone dropped off a crate of 9 kittens to Tara (from Safe Haven Center) and I got those out to Pam in Bethany. And, Pam had another 19 kittens dropped off on her.
I already had yet another foster home set up with a momma and four babies, when I got a call about two kitten bottle babies, so thank goodness, this foster home took them.
Finally, last night, my neighbor came and got me to help her get a momma and four babies out from under her house!
That is just kittens...
The puppy calls are as bad!
This is crazy! It feels like worst I have ever seen or dealt with. I heard that OKC took in 150 cats only three days ago. What the heck? Just when we think we have accomplished something with education and spay/neuter, look what happens!
Anyway, just wondering if it was as bad on the rest of you! Just had to vent, so now its your turn!
