Deaf Chihauhau six months old needs a new home after owner passes away.
Jiggers' owner passed away and his relatives could not keep him. He is approximately six months old and a real sweetheart with people of all ages! He is considered a special needs adoption as he appears to be deaf.
We are not sure if he was born this way or if he had some kind of injury that may heal within time. At this time, he will need a special home that understands how a deaf dog will need to be taken care of. Some things to think about is crate training (as he cannot hear vocal commands), using sign language to teach good behavior, and cautious corrective actions as he will not understand what is going on (he cannot hear the vocal commands and tone of voice). He will also need to be kept indoors, and only outside in a very secure yard or leashed; if he should get out accidentally he will not hear you call him, cars, or other things that may harm him.
