Jack's Fur Angels Rescue in Texas shares the story of a beloved family member who passed away.
Many of us know the special skills and demeanor of the American Pit Bull Terrier, despite the reputation. Still, a picture can be worth so more than words, which makes this a valuable story.
Nautica was a service dog, therapy dog, family member, nurse maid, caretaker, and much more.

She raised countless puppies and kittens.

When newborn kitties were slated for euthanasia, because they needed round the clock care, she intervened.

In fact, when we would arrived at the emergency vet, she would race to the incubator to see her new babies.

Still, many were afraid to accept her love.

She had incurable cancer of the bladder and lungs.

After five months of chemotherapy, she was no longer responding to the drugs.

We let her go 3 days after this last photograph.

In her last days with us, literally dozens came to say their good-byes. She greeted everyone in typical pit bull fashion with her big grin and waggin butt, even though the cancer had filled nearly all of her lungs. All she wanted to do was lick everyone's tears away.

Recently, Jack's Fur Angels received a comment from someone who found a pit puppy. They said "If "Sugars" were anything but a pit bull we would just keep her! But we are hoping to start a family soon and I just cannot bring myself to having a pit bull and a baby together! *smiles* But I don't want the sweetie to go to a cruel owner...."
JFA replied: "Those sort of comments break my heart when I'd give anything to have my girl Nautica back."
