Andrea's Tale

August 11, 2007 : 2:50 PM
Hi everyone,

My name is Andrea. About a month ago, I managed to fall into a hole in the little town of San Andres, up the mountain from Panajachel and I couldn't get out! I spent two days and one awful night down there knowing that my puppies were coming any day. No food, no water. I thought I was a goner.

Lucky for me, a sweet lady named Niela called Mayan Families and asked them to help me. They, in turn, called Pedro, a vet tech who lives in my old town. He came to the hole, got me out and put me up for the night.

The next day, there was lots of talk about getting me an abortion in Antigua but, it was decided that I was too late in the pregnancy along with too emaciated and sickly to survive the operation. So, my next stop was Dr. Miguel's. After a week of hospitalization I gave birth to 12 pups! Sadly, 7 of them didn't make it but the 5 who did are fat and fine!

I'm finally starting to put on some weight of my own, too. I've been told that I'm a very sweet girl and that I won't have any more puppies. Thank goodness! I'm 5 or 6-years-old and I don't want anymore babies!

My picture, as well as those of my puppies are located at www.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mfhp/. When you get a chance, please take a look.

Do you know anyone who would like a sweet, spayed ex-Mom like me? How 'bout one of my puppies?

Please think about it and let Selaine know if you have a possibility. Thanks!

I am so heartened to learn about Mayan Families and have made it a favourite. There are such good people everywhere!
I hold Andrea, her pups and everyone there in the light - because I am unable to help by taking in another creature.
