The Hawaii Island Humane Society has three shelters throughout the Big Island, filled with great animal companions needing people to spend time with them in the shelter and waiting for families of their own.
Open up your home to a homeless animal! There are lots of sweet, loving, and friendly animal companions waiting to be adopted. If you have room in your heart and in your home for your first pet, or can make room for a second companion for your pet to hang out with, then please take a trip over to the Hawaii Island Humane Society. There are lots of choices… big dogs and little dogs, white cats and black cats, bunnies and gerbils, and all will make a wonderful addition to your family. The Hawaii Island Humane Society has three shelter sites throughout the island (Kona, Keauu, and Waimea), so visit their website for directions to the shelter closet to you.

The Hawaii Island Humane Society is looking for great volunteers to spend time with the animals and assist in helping the shelter with its daily needs. Visit their website for volunteer information and opportunities.
http://www.hihs.org/No time to volunteer?Well, then why not send a few dollars over to the Hawaii Island Humane Society? The shelter is a non-profit organization that depends on generous donations from the public to care for the animals and to find them loving homes. Maybe you could do without that Starbucks mocha for a few days and send that coffee money over to the shelter to help them buy food or medicine. Or, how about skipping that weekend dinner out at a restaurant, eat home instead, and send the dinner money saved to the shelter to help pay for a spay or neuter surgery?
