Responsible pet ownership encouraged through displays and demos
In celebration of both National Pet Week and Be Kind to Animals Week during May 4-10, 2008, the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association (HVMA) proudly presents HAWAII PET EXPO 2008
The event will be held at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall on Saturday and Sunday, May 10 & 11, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year's theme is "Pets Jazz UP Your Life."
HAWAII PET EXPO 2008 seeks to encourage responsible pet ownership and strengthen the unique bond between people and their pets through educational displays, live animal demonstrations, and the latest in pet products and services.
Dog, cat, bird and fish clubs, non-profit animal welfare organizations, a variety of businesses providing pet products and services, crafters, and other groups will be participating in this year's event.
Other highlights include: Free pet care advice at the Ask-A-Vet booth, a Petting Zoo (Sunday only), West Oahu Kennel Club Parade of Breeds (Saturday, 1:45 p.m.), and the annual Hawaiian Kennel Club Puppy Match (Sunday, 12 noon). Among the informative and timely presentations scheduled at this year's event is a how-to guide for providing environmentally-friendly pet care.
Admission is free. Pets are welcome – dogs must be leashed and pets must be under their owner's control at all times. Donations of nonperishable food items are being accepted at the door to benefit the Hawaii Foodbank.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their cameras to take advantage of the numerous photo opportunities available at this fun-filled event. Call (808) 845-1762 for more information.
