Dogs Deserve Better in their Valentine campaign to raise awareness for chained and penned dogs. Dogs Deserve Better, a nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing the chained dog, has designated February 7 – 14th as
Have a Heart for Chained Dogs Week. This year their goal is to send out 10,000 valentines along with a brochure and treat coupon to dogs living outside all over the U.S.
Dogs Deserve Better is seeking students, groups, and individuals to participate by creating Valentines for the chained dogs and mailing them to the organization's headquarters in Tipton, Pennsylvania.
How to get involved:(1) Make Valentines - The valentines can say anything along the lines of “'Bring us into the home and family.” This is a great project for teachers, students, scout leaders, clubs, stamping parties, and children of all ages. Send them to Dogs Deserve Better by
February 5th at P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684.
(2) Mail Coupons for Free or Reduced Cost Treats or Dogfood. Your Sunday paper and the packaging on your own pet food is a great place to look. Mail all treat or dogfood coupons you have to P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684.
(3) Send addresses for Chained or Penned Dogs. Is there a dog in your neighborhood that’s chained or penned outside? Send the address to Dogs Deserve Better. Please be sure to get the complete mailing address of the location and zip code for the area. You may send the address via mail, call 877.636.1408 to report addresses, or e-mail them to info@dogsdeservebetter.org.
You remain anonymous!All valentines will be sent anonymously, unless you specifically ask for your first or full name to be included. And any information that is sent out with the valentine will include only the name of the Dogs Deserve Better organization.
