By: Becky Monroe, Network VolunteerUnbelievably, it is here the next puppy mill dog auction in Thorp, WI. It is scheduled for
Wednesday, September 24 at Horst Stables. The address is N 13653 County Highway M in Thorp.
Public viewing of the dogs begins at 10am with the auction starting at 12:30pm. No catalog of the dogs for auction has been released. They have noted it should be available a week prior to the date.
For those of you who read my account of the March auction and know that I rescued a Chinese Crested Powder Puff affectionately known as #171, I want you to know that he is doing great. If you haven't read it, you still can:

That is a recent picture of him in the heading)
Thorp, as I named him, has changed my life and certainly reminds me everyday of the plight of puppy mill dogs across the nation.
Last time I attended, my intent was to protest but after going in the auction barn and seeing all the helpless dogs, I never made it back out to hold my sign. As of today, I am unsure what exactly I will do at this auction.
Some loving and generous people sent me money to rescue another dog who needs it the most. I wonder who it will be this time?
I know that many of the rescue organizations have already marked their calendars and plan to be in attendance. While I am still unnerved to attend, it is comforting to know that I won’t be alone this time.
If you are able to attend, whether it be to protest, rescue or just to witness the cruelty that exists in our country, I encourage you to do so. Nothing you see or hear will prepare you for what it is like to be there: looking these poor dogs in the eyes.
I believe that the more people who see it first hand, the more people who will fight for these dogs’ freedom and the sooner we can call puppy mills a tragedy of our past.
