More Than 80 Pets Desperately Need Homes as Las Vegas Pet Rescue Closes on July 25

Closing of TLC Animal Rescue Center threatens the lives of its pet population

LAS VEGAS, NV--More than 80 dogs and cats may lose their lives if they don't find a new home by Friday, July 25.

Officials with the TLC Animal Rescue Center says the shelter near Decatur and Valley View Boulevards will shut down for good, and they hope other rescue organizations will take in the dozens of animals now behind held in the shelter.

According to media reports, Marty Ertl, the director of TLC Animal Rescue, says he has been trying to keep his group afloat for a while and he has been having problems with funding and volunteers.

But with a sluggish economy, the Nevada SPCA says other rescue facilities in Las Vegas are packed full.

What You Can Do
If you can help provide a home, or can care for the animals temporarily, please call the Nevada SPCA at 702-873-SPCA (7722).

If anyone knows what happened to TLC Animal Rescue or its owner Martin Ertl, please call me at 702 588 4942. We had rescued a chihuahua while living in N Las Vegas right before we moved to San Antonio, TX in June 2008 and we wanted to adopt the dog. TLC would not let us take him without being neutered so we had to leave him behind. Martin (Marty) assured us that he would make sure that we got him, but then he disappeared after a job transfer took him to North Carolina. Thank you!
