Cruise for a New Shelter!

September 14, 2007 : 11:28 PM
Have fun for a good cause and meet new people on a Sunset Cruise of Lake Norman

Cruise for a New Shelter!

Friends for Life is hosting a fund raiser to help build a much needed animal shelter for North Mecklenburg County. Take a sunset cruise on beautiful Lake Norman, and proceeds will benefit the area's unwanted animals.

Cornelius Animal Control has outgrown this small outdoor structure that was built 14 years ago! The need is great as the population grows, people and animals that is.

The Cornelius Animal Shelter is the shelter of Cornelius Animal Control, operated by officer Kenny Russell and a group of loving volunteers who together feed, water, walk, and love the dogs and cats of the shelter.

The animal shelter is not a building, and is found in a gated lot at the end of Meridian Street. Residents look forward to having a real shelter in the near future, thanks to the commitment of the towns of Cornelius, Huntersville, and Davidson. It is also called the North Mecklenburg Animal Shelter.

The next Cornelius town meeting to cover the subject is set for Monday, September 17th. If you plan to attend, arrive at or before 6:45pm to ask questions.

Please help keep this a priority in eyes of town officials in terms of timing. Colder weather is just around the bend, and these little guys need a better environment.

Volunteers and Animal Control work hard but there is only so much they can do...

It's time for a change!
