Best Friends Utah Chooses North Carolina for Annual Celebration of Animals May 2008

Best Friends Animal Society will celebrate North Carolina's animals during their visit May 3rd to May 11th. Friends for Life LKN and Cornelius PARC Department will host one of the biggest events locally in the North Mecklenburg area.
A Super Adoption Fair and Humane Education Event will be held May 10th, from 10AM to 3 PM at Bailey Road Park in Cornelius. Primary sponsors are Adkins Pet Center (Iron Station), Petco Foundation, Camp Wagging Tails, Doggy Day Care (Cornelius), Parks Chevrolet (Huntersville), and Lake Norman Realty (Cornelius).
This event will feature hundreds of pets available for adoption from across the state. Animal Rescue groups and Animal Control agencies will feature their rescued pets looking for permanent loving homes. Available for adoption will be dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, bunnies, water foul and much more!!! There will be activities for all ages. The kick-off event will be a Strut Your Mutt Spay/Neuter March and Trivia Contest. Proceeds will benefit the Friends for Life LKN Spay/Neuter program. Event winners will receive valuable prize baskets!
In addition to the Strut your Mutt Spay/Neuter March, along with the many pets available for adoption, there will Humane Animal Education and Awareness activities. Many animal-related vendors will be there for you to shop for your pet, including a Cathy’s Creations embroidery booth where you can get your pets name or your telephone number embroidered on their collars. There will be many booths, including NASCAR and Greg Biffle Humane Animal Rescue Foundation. There will be something for everyone.
· Adoptions of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and more through multiple Animal Rescue groups from across the state.
· Strut Your Mutt Spay/Neuter March, with prizes for K-9s and their best friends.
· Fund Raising booth for the new North Mecklenburg Animal Shelter.
· Animal related vendor exhibits.
· Trophy and prize ceremonies.
· Community Service Awards Presentation.
· Children’s activities and with a kids humane animal posters contest, the 3 winning posters will be mounted and hung in the new shelter.
