UPDATE- Juvenile sought in Edna's disappearance is in custody!

February 29, 2008 : 9:27 PM
As a result of determined police work on the part of the bench warrant
investigators from the Philadelphia District Attorney's office, Victor
Rodriguez was located hiding in an undisclosed location in Virginia.

Rodriguez surrendered himself, and a detention hearing was held on February 28th at the Youth Study Center. The court placed him in a community based juvenile detention shelter, the locations of which is not being disclosed.

As he is considered a 'flight risk', Rodriguez will remain in custody
pending his court date on March 10th. On that day, an adjudicatory hearing will take place at 8:30AM in Courtroom 'C' in family court, 1801 Vine Street. Rodriguez has been appointed a public defender. The case will be handled by Philadelphia District Attorney, Heidi Grogan.

The charges Rodriguez will face include 3 felonies: criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief and theft by extortion. In addition he will face charges of terroristic threats and harassment. The trial is expected to last take only one day.

Special DA spokesperson, Cathie Abookire, said they are "Very satisfied he is custody, as this case struck a nerve with the entire [district attorneys] office."

There is still no information as to Edna's whereabouts.

Many are wondering if the rally scheduled for March 5th will go on as planned. The answer is YES - the rally will go on! Edna's peaceful rally has not and will not be cancelled.

What you can do
Join Edna's guardian, William Whiting, at a press conference scheduled for March 5, 2008 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Verizon - Pennsylvania Building (1717 Arch Street, Philadelphia) to formally present the petition to Verizon and to Mayor Nutter.

Please share this action alert with all of your animal loving friends, family and rescue contacts. 5,000 of us signed this petition - now let's see how many people we can get to physically come out and show their support! Click here for more information.

I will be at the rally in spirit. (I live in Minnesota.) Our family lost 21 rescued cats to an exploiter/hoarder; we can only imagine the pain for Edna and for her devoted owner. This crime against Edna and her owner/guardian must be punished to the maximum extent with an upward deviation on sentencing. Edna's location and/or remains :( must be found as part of the sentencing or plea. My prayers are with you.
