Champ is a seven year old, very needy German Shepherd, who has a TERRIBLE skin condition on his face and body. “Skin condition” may not sound like much, but this poor dog has been suffering.
The owner of the www.nola.com website has also set up a link on their Nola Pet Scoop Blog to help Champ, whose mom, (one of the nola.com pet forum contributors), loves him very much but is financially-challenged and not able to afford to get him the help he desperately needs to survive.
After giving up on her local vets, and totally out of money, Champ’s mom was finally able to get him an appointment with the skin specialists, where a public donation-fund was set up to pay for his care.
Recently, it was discovered that Champ has a bad case of a rare but
curable skin disorder called Pemphigus, which will require continued care and an expensive medication to get him back on his feet.
The sad part is that Champ is
responding to the medication, but after this initial one-month dose, unless we get more donations, Champ’s mom will be
unable to continue his treatment. The medication is $350 a month for the first three months, after which it will be $150 per month, until this is cleared up. This treatment is literally life or death for Champ and there is no more money in the fund to continue his treatment.
