Blount Rescues and Loudon County Shelters at or Beyond Capacity
As with many rescue organizations and shelters across the country, Blount County and surrounding counties are overwhelmed with unwanted animals. In particular this week has been the population of kittens turned in.
At one time, one person turned over 25 cats and kittens. Rescue organizations such as Blount Care are trying desperately to find foster homes and permanent homes to save these precious animals.
Many shelters are so overcrowded that the owner surrendered animals are euthanized immediately as shelters are not required to keep them the mandatory 3 days as is required with strays.
