Lend a Paw to Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter

June 13, 2008 : 8:36 AM
Foster homes needed for influx of kittens.

Cheryl Schneider, Animal Services Director of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS), is asking the public for assistance. June is Adopt-a-Shelter Cat month because this time of year animal shelters are generally inundated with litters of kittens. WCRAS is certainly no exception.

The shelter received in 121 felines this week alone and currently has 60 kittens at the shelter and another 60 in foster homes. Additional foster homes are needed for the many kittens who are too young for adoption (they must be at least eight weeks old so they may be fixed prior to being rehomed) and for the nursing mother cats with their litters. Schneider expects many additional felines in the next four months.

In an effort to help find homes for their many adoptable cats and kittens, adoption fees have been lowered for the month of June.
• Cats 5+ years: $25
• Cats and kittens <5 years: $50
• Adopt two and get the second ½ price: $75 (total)

All cats are already spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, licensed in County (if applicable), and tested for FeLV/FIV(if old enough).

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
• If you are interested in fostering or volunteering for WCRAS, please visit the volunteer page on their website or call 512-943-3322 for more information.
Donate supplies, such as towels, cat food, litter, treats, beds, and even newspaper. Of course financial assistance is always appreciated as well.
• If you do not live in the vicinity of WCRAS, please consider fostering for a local shelter or rescue. It is a rewarding experience and helps to save lives.
