LEGISLATING FOR ANIMALS IN 2009: One of the best ways to help animals is through legislation. This class will prepare you to understand what the Texas 2009 legislative agenda will entail. We will discuss what animal welfare bills will be proposed, and what you can do to help. If you really want to make a difference for Texas animals, this is the class to attend. Presented by: Jay Sabatucci, HSUS, Texas State Director; Skip Trimble; Chair, Texas Humane Legislation Network

ASPCA® MEET YOUR MATCH™ CANINE-ALITY: “The Drive-By Version” Come get a taste of this innovative dog match-making program that promises to increase your adoptions, reduce your return rate and improve your customer services. What adoption Program couldn’t benefit from more happy adopters, more dogs in permanent homes and more compliments for your animal placement team? Presented by; Jacque Shultz, MA, CPDT, Senior Director of National Outreach, ASPCA

WORKING TOGETHER TO PLACE PETS IN YOUR COMMUNITY: Every homeless animal in your area is the shared responsibility of the community. Agencies share other resources: donor dollars, media time, pool of potential adopters. Why not share the resource of adoptable pets? This workshop addresses ways to share the burden among your community’s animal agencies and spread the word to the public about your adoption needs. Presented by: Kit Jenkins, Program Manager, PetSmart Charities

ASPCA®MEET YOUR MATCH™ FELINE-ALITY: “The Drive-By Version” Cat match-making via the MYM Feline-ality program will boost your adoptions with guided selections your adopters will bond to in a heart-beat. Whether their tastes run to the Party Animal or the Love Bug, Feline-ality will ferret out the true nature of both cat and potential adopter though this color coded system and ensure a good match. Come learn about it in short form, to see if your organization is ready to make the connection. Presented by: Jacque Shultz, MA CPDT, Senior Director of National Outreach, ASPCA

MAKING THEIR LIVES COUNT “Using Statistics to Enhance Your Goals and Save More Lives”: We can only move forward if we know from where we have come. Using statistics does more than just tell you how many animals your organization handled, it can help you develop pro-active programs to prevent them from ever becoming homeless. Presented by: Tara Yurkshat, Director of Operations, Dumb Friends League; Corey Price, Associate Director of Special Projects, SPCA of Texas

IT’S NOT AS DIFFICULT AS YOU THINK! “The Nuts & Bolts of Using Statistics to Save More Lives”: Now that you know how statistics can save lives, learn how to implement them in your organization. This step by step approach will help even the most number phobic person develop an easy program to follow. Presented by: Tara Yurkshat, Director of Operations, Dumb Friends League; Corey Price, Associate Director of Special Projects, SPCA of Texas

AVOIDING PIT FALLS WITH YOUR PIT BULLS! “Positive Community Programs that Promote the Breed”: Come hear about positive community based programs that promote bully breed adoptions and provide education about this wonderful breed. Learn about programs in other States & Cities as well as those in your own backyard.
