Results from the Huntsville-area youngster’s Best Friends fundraiser
It should come as no surprise that Stacie Pomeroy is proud of her young son Tyler following his first philanthropic activity. The 3 ½ year-old hosted a lemonade stand last Sunday, with all funds generated going to Best Friends Animal Society.
His mother had this to say:
“I am so proud of Tyler. Normally a pretty shy little guy, yesterday he stood behind his lemonade stand and would say ‘LEMONADE FOR SELL,’ as customers approached the store. He was so excited when someone would come over to buy a lemonade. My husband and I talked about Best Friends and encouraged people to adopt from our local shelter in Huntsville [Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter].”The day was hot so they were not able to stay the entire four hours; however, Tyler earned $95 selling lemonade from his stand. His mother was not the only proud relative, as his grandparents donated an additional $100, and other family members have also pledged funds as well. Stacie said she plans to mail a check this week and anticipates it will be for over $200.
She concluded by noting, “This was really a great experience for all of us.”
We think so too and thanks so much for your and Tyler’s support. May this just be the start of a lifetime of helping animals for him. Today lemonade salesman… tomorrow veterinarian with his own
spay/neuter clinic.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
• Even if you were unable visit their lemonade stand, you can still support Tyler’s efforts to help Best Friends by making a
memorial donation in Luke’s name (Tyler’s dog who recently passed away) or on behalf of an animal who was special to you.
• If you are considering a new companion animal, please adopt from a shelter or rescue, such as the
Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter. If you are not in the area, search through the thousands of homeless pets posted on
Petfinder.com to find one near you.
