Cat's Meow Special: July 7-11

July 2, 2008 : 8:10 AM
SPCA of Texas offers discounted spay/neuter surgeries for felines.

By Alicia Brown, SPCA of Texas

The SPCA of Texas continues its ongoing campaign to stop pet overpopulation by offering spay/neuter services for cats at discounted prices the week of July 7-11 at the Perry Spay/Neuter Clinic in McKinney and July 8-11 at the Martin Spay/Neuter Clinic at Village Fair in Dallas. The spay/neuter special offers $20 spay and neuter surgeries for male and female cats by appointment only.

As always, proof of vaccinations is required: For cats, rabies & FVRCP. Should your pet need vaccinations, each vaccine is $17; rabies and combination vaccines for cats (Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia).

If left intact, a companion animal can produce an unlimited number of offspring in his or her lifetime. Sadly, American shelters euthanize more than five million homeless dogs and cats every year, at a cost to taxpayers of more than $1 billion annually. Spaying and neutering lessens the chances of a pet developing cancer, reduces roaming tendencies and decreases the pet’s urge to mark its territory.

Monday, July 7 through Friday, July 11
SPCA of Texas - Perry Spay/Neuter Clinic
8411 Stacy Road (formerly FM 720, near Custer Road)
McKinney, Texas 75070

Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11
SPCA of Texas - Martin Clinic at Village Fair
4830 Village Fair Drive
Dallas, Texas 75224

Cats must be in individual carriers. Surgeries scheduled by appointment only.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
• To schedule an appointment at any of the two clinics, call 214-742-SPCA (7722)
• Make sure your own companion animals are spayed or neutered. If you are in Texas, but not located near the Dallas/Fort Worth area, please consider finding another low-cost spay/neuter facility in your area.
• To assist the SPCA of Texas, please consider volunteering, donating, or adopting one of their homeless animals.
