Pet Pals rescues 18 dogs, another 150 need help...

August 10, 2008 : 11:19 AM
Help local rescue group with large scale operation.

This is a desperate plea for help. We are currently in the process of taking in 50 dogs that were confiscated from an 80+ year old lady in Nebraska. The first of 18 are now at Pet Pals, Inc. We are also in the process of getting approximately 150 more dogs relinquished. Yes, you read this right.....150 more. <sigh>
Monday, August 4th we paid vet bills of almost $2,000. 29 pets were transported to Colorado. One older dog, whose owner is dying of cancer went to his foster home, with help from National English Shepherd Rescue, where I'm told he is not leaving....HURRAH! I'm so happy to have helped in his rescue. Thank you, National English Shepherd Rescue and those who crossposted! (Jody to name one special person)
We also helped save an injured bird, thank you Susan, but you really didn't have to wreck your truck to pick it up off the highway! LOL

One girl, Kitten, is now in a Pet Pals' foster home after coming from a kill facility. She is now fully vetted. Thank you Raquel, Mariah and Rob for helping!

**********************************************************************
Twenty-seven other pets are now spayed or neutered....HURRAH! Including Taco an older poodle who we have been nursing back to health and Cinderella a kitten who has an injured leg and will need further vet visits to make sure a leg amputation is needed.

A nine week old puppy, Bob, was transferred to a great rescue after we paid for his neuter. We are on overload and yet couldn't let him die. Thank you, Shelley and Animal House!

*****************************************************************************

Most of the dogs and cats who went to the vet's were from low income people who could not have afforded to spay or neuter their pets without our help. A now neutered Basset named Buster, is being boarded for free while his owners try to rent another house.
Below is Leona whose bank account was automatically charged a double utility bill causing over $300 in overdraft charges. She is working two jobs to make ends meet and yet she spays or neuters stray cats. It was such an honor to be able to help her in her rescue efforts.

*****************************************************************
I want you to KNOW where your donations are going. We have NO payroll (all volunteers) and my husband is working six days a week, (after retiring) and working several part time jobs. So far you have helped us save over 800 pets and spay/neuter over 2,000, thank you.
Times are hard for everyone but we can't let lives die because of it. Taking in 18 more dogs, after taking in numerous cats who were going to be killed, has put a huge burden on us. Can you please help? ANY type of help is appreciated. Just a click of your mouse and forwarding this e-mail helps! Look at their eyes, they don't want to die. So far only one dog has died in this heat. It is one too many. :-(

(Our digital thermometer was in the sun.)

THANK YOU!

Ps. No pets will be leaving here until they are spayed/neutered, wormed, vaccinated and microchipped unless they are transferred to an approved Rescue. We are hoping some other quality rescue organizations can help in this huge life saving operation. (Organizations MUST spay/neuter before placement AND microchip) They are welcome to contact us via telephone but mornings are not a good time to call. E-mails are now stacked up to over 1,000.... sorry, I've been busy to say the least. Please, please hold off on the joke e-mails. I do read each and every e-mail and your letters/pictures keep me going and going and going!
Another vet appointment is set for 30 more dogs to be spayed/neutered. We have to come up with the vet fees before August 19th....Yikes
